2000: 2% CONSTRUCTION GROWTH IN HOLLAND

 

Following several years with a low growth rate because of a construction boom in the late 80s, which meant over-construction in most of the sectors, construction is progressing in Holland again and it is expected to rise with 2 percent in 2000. This is according to European Construction Research's new report. This is primarily the result of an economic period of high growth rates caused mostly by a growth in private consumption and a strong international trade sector.

 

Commercial construction and civil engineering will bear the growth of the coming years. Commercial construction, because of the need for up-to-date office, retail and industrial premises of high quality and civil engineering construction, because Holland needs to be able to compete in order to be the leading transit country in Europe.

The housing sector in Holland experienced a decline in the beginning of the 90s. With the stable economic growth and the massive investments in trade, construction will continue with high growth rates from 2000. Both offices and industry will be renewed and also the housing field follows.
