2000: 3% CONSTRUCTION GROWTH IN SWEDEN

According to European Construction Research, Sweden's construction will experience a growth of 3 percent in the year 2000

Construction in Sweden constitutes USD 23,4 billion. Almost half of this amount, 46 percent, are in the field of renovation, followed by industrial construction, which constitute 23 percent which corresponds to nearly USD 5,5 billion annually.

Housing construction constitutes only about 13 percent corresponding to almost USD 3 billion and finally the civil engineering sector constitute nearly 18 percent of the total construction corresponding to USD 4,1 billion.

(in percent annually)

In the year 2000, construction in Sweden will rise with 3 percent. Construction has, however, been on a high level and Sweden is, both in terms of industry and housing, well-developed and the construction volume is generally in good condition. There will therefore not be a large progress in the years to come, even though housing construction in isolation will experience high growth rates from the extremely low level.
